Changer

It’s an old story. Two buds find punk rock in their teenage years, learn how to write songs together, and in the process, create a shared sensibility. Enter Changer. Formed in 2017 by longtime friends Josh Lefefe and Ryan Metcalf of Wolf-Face, Rutterkin, Tres Bien, they front and support each other as both play guitar and drums, “changing” it up half way through their blistering live show. Lefefe is piss and vinegar, presenting torrid post-hardcore efforts in line with Boys Night Out or Gatsby’s American Dream. On the other side of the coin is Metcalf, crooning over big, fuzzy numbers reminiscent of old Jimmy Eat World and Motion City Soundtrack. It all coalesces around the duo’s ability to play off each other with infectious rhythms and tight harmonies. It’s the kind of thing only two best friends can make. Their split 7” with Broken Things is available now on Euclid Place Records.
